US National Intelligence Director: Russia is more dangerous than “Al-Qaeda”
The US National Intelligence Director John Michael McConnell has declared that the Russia’s policy becomes more and more antidemocratic and rigid in process of approach of presidential elections. This performance was opened for press and consequently cautious, but on hands senators had its full text, and after the introductory speech, all the journalists have been removed from a boardroom and the closed hearings have been held.
However, even the introductory speech has amazed with a lot of contradictory and shocking facts. John Michael McConnell has started his speech with accusing Russia of the further deviation from a democratic rate and in aspiration to give the power to the new anti-democratic successor. McConnell said that all possible and impossible measures are being taking in order to control the population, parties and so on - up to that the following head of Russia will be simply specified. As one of negative examples the US National Intelligence Director has resulted Alexander Litvinenko’s murder in London and has declared, that such incidents “accumulate problems and friction”. Having concerned Vladimir Putin’s sensational speech at the Munich conference, McConnell has admitted, that it became a surprise for the American special services.
As The Washington Post informs, McConnell has assumed, that the aggressive Russian last weeks rhetoric, directed against the USA, can be the reflection of political tendencies in Russia.
As a conclusion the US National Intelligence Director has told that Putin has got in an environment of extremely conservative advisers which treat the USA with suspicion.
McConnell has told that Russian authorities continue to bring a spirit of “rivalries and antagonism” into Russian-American relations, in particular, when it is a question of America’s actions in the territory of the former USSR. McConnell has told that such position will not lead to productive cooperation in any questions: from counteraction against terrorism up to power and the Near East democracy distribution.
